David Gargiulo __ How did you get started in the modeling industry?

Margo & Madelyn Whitley __ We got scouted at a music festival. At first, we were skeptical, fearing it might be sex trafficking, so we decided to throw the business card away. Later, more model scouts approached us, so we decided to give it a shot. We moved to NYC and got signed with New York Model Management, and it has been such an exciting journey so far.

DG __ How has your background as twins influenced your work as models and influencers?

M&M __ From an early age, we have embraced the importance of rejecting comparison to others, especially in the fashion industry. We understand that our individuality is what sets us apart and makes us shine. Growing up as twins, we have always had a unique bond and a deep understanding of each other.

This has taught us the value of working well with others. From the time we were children, we realized that we are stronger together and that collaboration brings out the best in us. This has allowed us to build strong relationships with designers, photographers, and fellow professionals in the fashion industry.

DG __ How do you use your platform as models and influencers to connect with your audience and contribute to society?

M&M __ Through our platforms as models, we have been dedicated to spreading awareness and increasing visibility for the transgender community. Simply by living our lives authentically and pursuing our careers, we serve as a source of exposure and representation for our audience. We understand the power of visibility and the impact it can have on marginalized communities. By openly embracing our transgender identities and showcasing our talents in the modeling industry, we aim to inspire others and challenge societal norms and stereotypes.

DG __ How do you use fashion and beauty as tools for promoting diversity and inclusivity, and why is that important to you?

M&M __ Fashion and beauty have played a profound role in our journey of self-discovery and gender exploration. As we embarked on our transitions, we found empowerment in these creative outlets, using them as powerful tools to experiment with femininity and cultivate our personal identities. During the process of transitioning, fashion and beauty became more than just superficial elements; they became vehicles for self-expression and avenues for embracing our true selves. Through clothing choices, makeup, hairstyles, and accessories, we discovered new ways to express our gender identities and celebrate our unique individualities. In our advocacy and through our platforms, we recognize that there are infinite ways to express oneself, and we want to share our journey with others, inspiring them to explore and embrace their own unique paths of self-expression.

DG __ What do you think is the role of models and influencers in shaping society's attitudes toward body image and self-esteem?

M&M __ As models, one of our primary goals is to promote confidence and self-love among individuals. We firmly believe that models represent the beautiful diversity of humanity, coming in different shapes, sizes, and backgrounds. By showcasing this diverse range of appearances, we contribute to a broader message of embracing oneself and cultivating a positive body image. In the world of fashion, there has been a growing movement towards inclusivity, recognizing that beauty is not confined to a single standard. We strive to be part of this movement and encourage others to do the same. We want to emphasize that confidence and self-love are not limited to a specific body type or appearance.

DG __ How do you approach staying informed about social and political issues, and what responsibility do you feel to use your platform to advocate for change?

M&M __ In today's world, staying informed about social and political issues has become increasingly important, and as models, we recognize the importance of using our platforms to address these matters. We believe that the power of our voices extends beyond the realms of fashion and beauty and that we have a responsibility to contribute to positive change in society. Using our voices to create change is about more than just sharing opinions; it's about advocating for equality, justice, and positive social transformation. We strive to highlight marginalized voices, promote inclusivity, and support initiatives that work towards a more equitable society.

DG __ How do you stay true to yourselves and your values as individuals while navigating the demands of the fashion industry?

M&M __ In this job, it is easy to get caught up in the expectations and pressures of conforming to certain standards. However, we firmly believe that genuine success comes from being unapologetically true to who we are. We have learned to embrace our unique qualities, talents, and perspectives, understanding that they are what set us apart and make us stand out in a crowd. Surrounding ourselves with positive influences and a strong support system has been instrumental in maintaining our authenticity. We have cultivated relationships with individuals who uplift and encourage us, reminding us to stay grounded and authentic amidst the industry's demands. They have provided us with the necessary support and guidance to navigate the challenges and uncertainties that come with this profession.

DG __ How do you handle criticism or negative feedback on social media, and what strategies have you found to be effective?

Cape, pants, and shoes CHLOE, rings NINA RUNSDORF.

M&M __ As trans women in the public eye, we have encountered our fair share of hate comments targeting our identities. However, over time, we have developed a resilience that shields us from the impact of strangers' opinions. The journey of self-discovery and self-acceptance has allowed us to build a strong foundation of self-assurance. We have embraced our true identities and learned to value ourselves based on our own standards rather than seeking validation from external sources. Additionally, we are fortunate to have an incredible team behind us, comprising supportive individuals who believe in us and uplift us. Their unwavering encouragement and guidance have bolstered our resilience and fortified our belief in ourselves. We choose to focus on the positive impact we can make and the love that surrounds us, standing firmly in our truth.

DG __ What do you see as the future of the fashion industry, and how do you see yourselves contributing to it?

M&M __ As we envision the future of fashion, we are filled with hope and excitement for a more inclusive industry. We firmly believe that diversity should be celebrated and that representation matters. With this vision in mind, we are committed to contributing to the fashion industry's journey toward inclusivity by bringing more trans representation to the runway and the industry as a whole. By walking the runways and being part of fashion campaigns, we aim to inspire and educate both industry insiders and the general public about the beauty and resilience of the transgender community. We are inspired by the growing number of designers, brands, and industry professionals who are actively working towards creating a more diverse and representative space. Together, we can reshape the narrative of fashion and pave the way for a future that celebrates the beauty of all identities.

DG __ How do you maintain your motivation and drive in the face of challenges or setbacks, and what advice would you give to others in a similar situation?

M&M __ As a model, rejection is an inherent part of the journey, and we have certainly encountered our fair share of it. However, we firmly believe that perseverance and self-belief are key to navigating the challenges of this industry and achieving success. Our advice to aspiring models is to keep working diligently and to continue believing in yourself. Learn from each experience, whether it's a rejection or an opportunity, and use it to refine your skills, enhance your portfolio, and strengthen your confidence. Embrace constructive feedback and seek opportunities for growth and improvement. Surround yourself with a supportive network of friends, family, and industry professionals who believe in your talent and potential. Their encouragement and guidance will serve as a source of inspiration and motivation during challenging times.

DG __ What do you hope to achieve in the next few years of your career?

M&M __ We hope to achieve success, happiness, and abundance through our work. Our goal is to make a positive impact and leave a lasting legacy. We aim to inspire others through our work, to promote inclusivity and diversity, and to use our platforms for positive change. Success, happiness, and abundance are not solitary pursuits but are best experienced when shared with others and when they contribute to the greater good.
