Violeta Nicola __ When was the moment you realized you wanted to pursue a career as an actor?
Elisa Visari __ I realized I wanted to be an actress at a young age — but what started the process was when I got cast for an advertisement job. The moment the camera was on me, the spark was there. At first, I was uncomfortable because of not knowing what to expect, but I realized I wanted to learn the craft of acting to conquer the fear, so I started my studies into acting.
Violeta __ Gabriele Muccino cast you in a few different projects. What is it like working with him?
Elisa __ It was fun portraying the character of Elena because she is different from other roles I've played. The day I auditioned for the role was full of excitement. Although I was nervous, the director must have liked my performance as I was given the part the following day.
Violeta __ You were cast by Gabriele Muccino for different projects. How is working with Gabriele Muccino?
Elisa __ Gabriele was the first director to believe in me, give me my first cinematic experience, and cast me in A Casa Tutti Bene (There's No Place Like Home.) It was a fantastic opportunity to work with a great director like Gabriele. We were filming on the island of Ischia for two months and got to know each other on such a great friendship level. Working with Gabriele is stimulating because he manages to involve you and nurtures you to be the best you can be for your role. He is a great mentor and has always given me good advice.
Violeta __ Are there any shows or films you would like to pursue?
Elisa __ I enjoy watching movies and TV shows. I am obsessed with Euphoria, and it would have been a dream to be part of that cast! I'd also like to pursue action and thriller roles as well.
Violeta __ How has the quarantine and the pandemic changed your mindset as an actor? Is there a specific lesson you learned during that time?
Elisa __ The lock-down had a powerful impact on my life. Many acting roles and series I was a part of had to be postponed, making things difficult on the production side. However, there was a positive side to this; it allowed me to spend time with my family. The quarantine permitted me to read and discover new sides of my ability as an actress.
Violeta __ Tell me three actors you’d like to work with, and why?
Violeta __ Great question. Angelina Jolie would be my first choice because she is one of my favorite actresses. Second, Denzel Washington because I think he is one of the most outstanding performers in the world of cinema. And lastly, an actress that I respect and admire is Matilde De Angelis, who, although she is young, has come a long way and worked with many great internationally-renowned actors.
Violeta __ Has anyone given you any advice that really resonated with you?
Elisa __ Working close to many of my colleagues, I got some great advice to try theater. As an actor, I know how essential it is to face an audience on stage. It is the best way to train yourself as a serious actor.
Violeta __ What has been your biggest accomplishment so far?
Elisa __ I am a very ambitious person and always aim to be the best version of myself. So far, one of the most significant rewarded moments is to have taken center stage at the David di Donatello to collect the award with the cast of a Casa Tutti Bene (There's No Place Like Home.)
Violeta __ Any hobbies or goal that you’d like our readers to know about?
Elisa __ This year I started studying Spanish to try to audition in Spain; another goal is to learn to sing.
Violeta __ What are your plans for the future in terms of acting? Where do you see yourself heading next?
Elisa __ Certainly many years of study await me but in the future I would like to act on an American set.
