“A new museum in the remote forest of Norway.”

The Twist Museum building was designed by Danish architectural firm BIG – Bjarke Ingels Group at Kistefos art park in Norway. The Museum opened to the public on September 18, 2019, adding a majestic new venue. Inside the hallways, the curvature of the windows divides the museum building into three separate areas illuminated by natural light. The Intermediate Space is crafted with twisted skylights in the roof. The southern section is home to an airy exhibition zone illuminated with artificial lighting. The Twist gives visitors the impression of walking through several different camera shutter speeds. The unique effect is manifested in the Intermediate Space – the actual "twist" itself. The wall seems to become the ceiling, which in turn, metamorphoses into floor and wall areas.

The interior looks like an editorial spread out of a high-class shoot. It makes a complex task, such as designing a minimalist ambiance, look like an easy one, thanks to its flawless visual Scandinavian influence. Not only do the windows offer a cinematic feel, but inside, the visitor's witness nature and stylish modern art arrangements making the experience magical. The Twist merits its name and is a source of inspiration for its guests and members.

The Kistefos Museum offers world-class architecture, art exhibitions, and an impressive sculpture park in scenic surroundings.

The new Kistefos Museum is a scenic sculpture Park established in late 90s – today it is home to works by internationally renowned contemporary artists including Anish Kapoor, Olafur Eliasson, Fernando Bottero and Elmgreen & Dragset. The museum site is situated by the river Randselva in Jevnaker, just an hour north of Oslo, Norway.

Built around a historical paper mill, the sculpture park occupies both embankments of the river, with an impressive twist museum. Visitors to the Norwegian capital have new reasons to venture outside Oslo in search of art and nature.
